Lorna Hawthorne, Co-Founder of Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurants, is a successful business entrepreneur who possesses the tenacity to be fully devoted to the causes she supports while being fully dedicated to her family. She has been a source of strength and a driving force in the development of the Golden Krust Empire which now encompasses over 125 restaurants in nine states, and recently expanded its franchise operations internationally to Toronto, Canada.
Lorna worked diligently along-side her husband Lowell Hawthorne founder and past Chief Executive Officer of Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant, carrying out her function as Chief Human Resources Officer with distinction. Lorna is a graduate of Westchester Community and Mercy Colleges and holds a bachelor’s in business administration and a Master of Science degree in Human Resource.
Lorna is a deeply spiritual person, who believes in helping people, especially those that are disadvantaged. Her motherly care is not limited to only her four children and grandchildren but extends to relatives and complete strangers who look to her for wise counsel and support. She is a woman with a refined heart of gold who stands as the backbone of her family, setting morally sound standards, while providing unconditional support, regardless of challenges.
Lorna is a team player who spends much of her time supporting the many community outreach activities spearheaded by Golden Krust annually, including breast cancer awareness campaigns, coat drives and the disbursement of scholarships to aspiring young people both in the US and Jamaica.
Despite her busy schedule, Lorna finds time to sing in her church choir and mentor young people who aspire to attend college. Throughout her career, Lorna has been bestowed with notable awards including the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health’s Leadership Award and the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York Achievement Award for leadership and generosity within the community.
